NovelWarp keeps three kinds of things, and they live in different places. You can listen without opening any of these folders.
The books folder is the one shown in Account. Each unlocked book is an ordinary audio file there, usually a file ending in .m4b. You may also see a cover picture, and sometimes a PDF that came with the book. NovelWarp plays the audio. It does not open the PDF. After a book is unlocked, the locked download is removed.
Beside each audio file is a small file with the same name and .position.json on the end. That file remembers where you stopped and the speed. If another computer opens the same folder, the newer place wins, whether it was saved by the shelf or by that small file.
The list of books, the covers NovelWarp shows, the bookmarks, the series names you typed, and the saved place also live in your Windows user folder, under AppData, Local, NovelWarp. The shelf file is library.sqlite. You do not need to open it.
The diary, when "Keep the log in the download folder" is unchecked, is novelwarp.log in that same NovelWarp folder. When the box is checked, the diary is in the books folder.
Remove from list is the wide button on the right of that bottom row. Bookmark and Save series on the same picture are covered on Bookmarks and Find a book.
Remove from list takes a row off the shelf. The audio file stays in the folder. The first click asks you to click again, so a slip does not drop the book. The second click removes the row. Scan folder can put the row back from the file that is still on disk.
Closing the window saves your place and which book was open, then hides NovelWarp and leaves the program running. The next time you open NovelWarp, that book is waiting at the saved place. Press play to continue. There is no tray icon to open it again. In Task Manager the program is listed as NovelWarp.exe. End that entry when you want the program to quit, then open it again from the Start menu.
Uninstalling asks whether to remove the saved sign-in and the book list. Choose Yes for a fresh start. Choose No to keep them. The audio files stay in the books folder either way. An update does not ask, and it leaves the sign-in and the book list in place.
Help and About are the last two buttons on the top row. About opens a panel titled Application. The panel opens on top of the window. The controls inside it are listed here.
| On the Application panel | What it does |
|---|---|
| Application | The title of the panel. |
| This copy | The version of the NovelWarp you are running. |
| Patrick L. Francis | The author. |
| https://novelwarp.com | The website. Click it to open the page. |
| https://x.com/patricklfrancis | The X account. Click it to open the page. |
| Help | Opens these pages. The same Help button is on the top row. |
| Check for updates | Looks at NovelWarp.com. When a newer copy is ready, it installs after the book is stopped and no download is running. Your books and your sign-in stay. If NovelWarp cannot reach the site, the note asks you to try again later. |
| The note under the buttons | Appears when a check has something to say, such as up to date, or that the new copy will install when playback is stopped. |
| Theme | Recolors the window and is saved on this PC. Default is cream and gold. The others are High Contrast, Fluent Dark, Teal Ocean, Ultraviolet, Crimson, and Slate Mint. Every theme keeps light text on a dark background. |
| Close | Closes the panel. A click on the dark area around it does the same. |
Help is on the top row, just before About, and again inside the Application panel. It opens these pages.
About is at the right end of the top row. The panel is titled Application. It lists this copy, Patrick L. Francis, NovelWarp.com, and the X account. Check for updates looks at NovelWarp.com. When a newer copy is ready, it installs after the book is stopped and no download is running. Your books and your sign-in stay. If NovelWarp cannot reach the site, the note asks you to try again later.

Keep this window on top, in Account, leaves NovelWarp above your other windows. Uncheck it when you want other windows to cover it.
